Winner of the 1998 Tony Award for Best Play
and Winner of the 1996 Olivier Award for Best Comedy, Yasmina Reza’s
brilliant play asks the questions: What is art? What is friendship?
And which is more important? Life-long friends Serge, Marc and Yvan
are about to find out! When Serge spends a small fortune on an
unusual piece of modern art, he expects Marc and Yvan to be as
excited as he is. Instead, words fly and sparks ignite as the men
square off over the canvas. Lines are drawn (both literally and
figuratively) and their ensuing battle grows to encompass not just
the painting but past failures and personal failings. With white-hot
wisecracks and discerning commentary, ‘ART’ is a funny,
sophisticated, humorous and provocative evening of theatre.
