Theatre  Three  Dramatic  Academy  Summer  2019

Our mission is to give our students the most interesting, innovative, and exciting experience possible. This includes invitations to special performances with a meet-the-cast question and answer period. Creative Dramatics will attend a performance of our children’s musical CINDERELLA. Pre-Teen, Teen, Advanced Teen, Musical Theatre Factory I, and Musical Theatre Factory II students will have the choice of our fall musical or our annual production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL.

Workshops begin the week of July 8 and run for five weeks.

Creative Dramatics, ages 6-8

An introduction to the stage. Basic stagecraft and theatre games with an emphasis on developing acting skills through focus and self-control. Final Class: Original Showcase Performance based on classwork.

THEATRE THREE continues to provide a unique opportunity for its older students. All students in Pre-Teen, Teen, and Advanced Teen classes are eligible to appear in the final production of our Children’s Summer Season along with THEATRE THREE’s professional Acting Company. Students will have the opportunity to audition for small speaking roles and will be able to work side-by-side with working professional artists.
This season we will be presenting PINOCCHIO, adapted and directed by Artistic Director Jeffrey Sanzel.

PLEASE NOTE: Participation in PINOCCHIO will require rehearsal time outside of regular class time. Students must be available for ALL rehearsals and ALL performances to be eligible.

SUZIE DUNN (Dean of Dramatic Academy/Instructor Pre-Teen I & II) Teaching career began at THEATRE THREE at age eighteen teaching classes ages 6 through 17. BFA in Theatre; MA in Elementary Education. Seven years a teacher of dance and drama Oakland Garden Elementary School, New York City; Arts Liaison between school The New York City Blueprint for The Arts, working with teaching artists from across the world. Assisted in writing the Arts Standards for New York State. Proud co-founder of The Cue Theatre, an educational lab theatre that works with hundreds of students throughout the capital region. She is the author of a curriculum for Arts- in-Education “Cue the Classroom” launched throughout the Albany City School District in 2014. She appeared on Central Park’s Delacorte stage in The Public Theatre’s TWELFTH NIGHT (summer 2016) and AS YOU LIKE IT (summer 2017). Recently relocated to Long Island, she was seen on THEATRETHREE’S stage in A CHRISTMAS CAROL.

(Mrs. Potts/Costume Designer); THE SOUND OF MUSIC, (Ensemble/Costume and Set Designer). Assisted in Rocky Point Middle School productions of PINOCCHIO, JR. and SHREK: THE MUSICAL, JR.

SKYLER JOHNSON (Teaching Assistant) Credits include: A CHRISTMAS CAROL( Peter Cratchit), 13 THE MUSICAL (Malcolm), ANNIE (Warbucks), GREASE (Sonny), The FESTIVAL OF ONE ACT PLAYS, “How Does it Feel to Be a Problem”(Jeremy) and WHERE THERE$ A WILL (Eugene Hart). Skyler is currently a member of the honors program at Suffolk County Community College, where he studies Political Science.

ALYSSA MONTES (Instructor) Student at St. Joseph’s College majoring in Child Study (primary/special education) with a concentration in Music. Performer at Spoonful of Sugar Entertainment, and private vocal coach. Assistant director/choreographer/stage manager/vocal coach at Shoreham-Wading River’s Summer Music Institute since 2011. Past theatre credits include: WEST SIDE STORY (Maria), PLAY ON! JEFFREY SANZEL (Executive Artistic Director) BFA in Acting & Directing from Conservatory at SUNY Purchase. With THEATRE THREE since 1989. Appointed Artistic Director July 1993. Director of over two hundred productions including the 2015 Musical Theatre Factory II’s production of GODSPELL, JR.

STEVEN UIHLEIN (Instructor, Teen and Advanced Teen) Associate in Science Degree in Theatre Performance and Technical Theatre. Member of THEATRE THREE’s Educational Touring program since 2015. Centereach High School Drama Program Technical Director since 2013. With THEATRE THREE from 2014 as actor in Mainstage and Children’s Theatre productions as well as fight choreographer, running crew, and lighting designer for Children’s Theatre.
